COVID-19 in Illinois: New cases in Edgar, Clark counties as spread slows statewide

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Department of Public Health on Monday announced 462 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease throughout the state, including 26 additional confirmed deaths.

New cases were reported in Edgar and Clark counties. Edgar County is now reporting seven cases while Clark County is reporting 14 cases.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 137,224 cases, including 6,671 deaths, in 101 counties. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. 

Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 18,219 specimens for a total of 1,379,003. 

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from June 15–June 21 is 2%. The positivity rate in the Central Region is at 1%. All regions remain on target to move to Phase 4 of reopening Friday.

Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, IDPH is now reporting both confirmed and probable cases and deaths on its website.
